The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit. Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier. If we include the summary card, there are two fours (Queen =13=1+3=4) and two members of the Major Arcana in this mini-reading, so we know that this request for insight focuses on F.M.’s building a new platform/jumping off place in addressing her/his soul’s agenda rather than her/his everyday life There are no other two-of-a-kind or more in suits or numbers.
The spotlight has been on the Fool, who bears the numeral O, a symbol of the Void, the repository from which all manifestation arises. The Universe has assembled all the cooperative components of your dream, and all you have to do is step off the cliff and commit to owning that dream for the sleeves of your garment to turn into wings so that you can fly. This card carries the message, “Follow your dream; you will be sustained.”
The spotlight is now on the Queen of Wands, the Sunflower Queen, who hides her light behind a black cat that she uses to keep people at a distance. She never lets anyone get too close, and if things turn out less than anyone’s idea of good, much less perfect, she blames the cat. This winds up with her playing the role of instigator and excuse-maker at the same time. This card appears when it is time to fire the cat, become more authentic in your interactions with others, and let your light shine enough for the sunflower to turn and face you. You are good enough, strong enough, wise enough, and able to ignore public opinion enough to be genuine. Please note that the queen’s wand is planted firmly in the base of her own throne rather than in the world beyond it.
The spotlight is moving toward the eight of cups, being dissatisfied with the feelings, emotions, relationships, and psychic abilities you have accumulated, turning your back on it/them, and going off to find more. If you are in a mindset of lack, you cannot manifest anything but more lack. It’s time to turn around and truly appreciate what you have in place, which allows you to align and manifest from a state of abundance.
The summary card is the Emperor, the gift of wisdom. Remember that wisdom is sometimes defined as intelligence + compassion. People are drawn to you because of this gift, a combination of intelligence and compassion, and you have learned to utilize it so that the truth can shine through on its own. This is the wisdom of the Biblical King Solomon, who when confronted by two women, each claiming to be the mother of a particular infant, declared,” Cut the child in half.” The true mother instantly gave up her claim so that the infant could live. This, in turn, resulted in everyone’s being able to see that she was, indeed, the real mother. The truth spoke for itself. Like Solomon, sometimes you need to say or do something outrageous so that the truth can reveal itself. You remain in power by not taking sides, by not reducing the exploration for the truth to simple yes/no questions.
