T.R. has requested an interpretation of the above cards that were drawn according to the protocol of silently completing the sentence, “Please give me some insight into __________.” T.R. has not told me what (s)he has put into the blank space. The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit. Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier. If we include the summary card, there are two swords in this mini-reading and two members of the Major Arcana, so we know that this request for insight focuses on T.R.’s resolving conflict in the context of T.R.’s soul’s agenda for this lifetime rather than her/his everyday life. There are no other two-of-a-kind-or-more in suits or numbers.
The spotlight has been on the seven of swords, de-escalating the conflict. This is accomplished by “chunking down” the number of points of conflict by deciding what can be removed at once, what can be removed later, and what, even though it is by definition part of the problem, can be temporarily ignored because it cannot hurt you. By reducing the points of contention to two, you have a good chance of avoiding aggressive behavior on anyone’s part, and the odds are increased for reaching a compromise. The situation is no longer overwhelming, nor is a major battle inevitable.
The spotlight is now on the eight of swords, feeling helpless and hopeless. This card appears in a reading when you have reached the point of the greatest disconnection from both the rest of humanity and from a higher power. The blindfold temporarily keeps you from seeing a solution to the conflict. Please be aware that the bonds that restrict you are not very tight. If you can shrug your shoulders and stop taking it all so seriously, you can free yourself, stop being a victim, remove the blindfold, see what’s really there, and move to higher ground. In other words, if you can raise your vibration and remember that you create your own reality, you can calibrate and attune yourself to align with the outcome you desire.
The spotlight is moving toward the Hermit, the embodiment of wisdom and higher understanding. You have spent a lot of time and energy ascending to the top of the mountain, and you have done it carrying the light so that others may follow in your footsteps. You have done this alone, for you march to a different drummer than do most other people. Considering the first two cards, this is a wonderful way to rise above conflict. This resolution will serve as an inspiration to others.
The summary card is the Magician. You are one of the movers and shakers who can channel energies from the higher realms and make things manifest as if by waving a magic wand. On the table in front of you are the symbols representing the four suits in the tarot deck. Use some discernment to choose the best realm/environment (suit) in which to get the job done.
Does this make sense? I hope it was helpful.
